Wales coach Hartson urges Arsenal to loan out Ramsey
The former Gunners and Celtic striker believes the 22-year-old is currently low on confidence and feels a changes of scenery and run of games will do him a world of good
Wales coach John Hartson insists Aaron Ramsey needs regular football to re-find his best form, and believes a loan move away from Arsenal could be the answer.
Ramsey remains a major player for the national side despite being stripped of the captaincy by new manager Chris Coleman last year, but his recent performances at club level have attracted criticism.
The 22-year-old has also been struggling to hold down a first-team place at the Emirates Stadium, and Hartson believes a change of scene and more frequent opportunities would do the youngster good."I just think Aaron needs that run of games, maybe if he did go out on loan he'd get that, because he doesn't seem to start many games at Arsenal now and when he does start he's brought off and he doesn't look happy," he told Sky Sports.
"With Arsenal you look at their midfield. In Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, Santi Cazorla and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, they've got some really, really gifted players.
"I just don't think he's quite hit the heights in terms of where he was before he got injured but he will, I'm sure he will.
"It just seems as if there's something holding him back at the minute."
Ramsey has started just 12 games for the Gunners this term, scoring once.
