Peter Odemwingie is on the verge of handing in a transfer request to engineer a move to QPR, Goal.com understands.
Rangers have had a €3 million bid rejected by West Brom, who have placed a nominal €7.2m price tag on the striker.
But the Premier League’s bottom club are ready to make another offer for the 31-year-old after putting together a package to entice him to Loftus Road.
Goal.com understands that QPR have offered to take up the 18 months remaining of Odemwingie’s €48,000-a-week West Brom deal and supplement it with a survival bonus and a 12-month extension if the club maintain their top-flight status this season.
Sources have said the Nigerian is ready to hand in a transfer request to push through the move if West Brom continue to play hardball on his asking price.
Odemwingie is unhappy that he has fallen down the pecking order at the Hawthorns and has been used almost exclusively on the flanks under Steve Clarke this season, with Shane Long and on-loan Romelu Lukaku sharing the centre-forward role.
Rangers manager Harry Redknapp is looking to play Odemwingie through the middle and pair him up with new signing Loic Remy.
With Bobby Zamora and Andy Johnson out injured, Redknapp has relied on Djibril Cisse to lead the line for the relegation-threatened club but will listen to offers for the erratic Frenchman.
Odemwingie has scored four goals in 18 appearances this season, 12 of which have been starts, although he has not netted since mid-November.
In total, he has struck 29 league goals in 79 appearances for West Brom since his move from Lokomotiv Moscow in the summer of 2010.
Fulham tried to sign him 12 months ago but are no longer believed to be interested.
