The Blaugrana director of football insists that the former Valencia striker will remain at Camp Nou despite reports linking him with a move to Arsenal in the new year
Villa, 31, has struggled to regain his place in the Barcelona team after returning from a broken leg that saw him miss six months of last season, and has been linked with a move away from the Catalan giants in recent weeks, with Arsenal supposedly monitoring the Spanish international’s situation.
However, Zubizarreta ruled out a move for Villa and was keen to stress he is still a key member of the Blaugrana squad.
"In January we will keep Villa,” the director of football told Canal Plus.
“And it is important to remember that Barcelona is a club that habitually does not accept offers for star players in January.
"David is a player that brings goals and intensity to the team.
"Now he has recovered from a serious injury I believe that he is offering a good level on the field.”
Villa moved to Barcelona in 2010 for €40 million after five successful years with Valencia.
