The Rotterdam club confirmed the signing of Verhoek on their official website on Friday, with the forward handed the number 11 jersey.

Feyenoord technical director Martin van Geel says the Eredivisie giants had been tracking Verhoek for some time and is delighted to have finally brought the winger to the club.

"We were already keeping tabs on him when he was still with ADO Den Haag." he told the club’s official website.

"He is a fast and strong player with a great cross, who is in the peak of his career. He's also the type of player who we expect could become a fans' favourite."

Van Geel was also insistent that his club were right to allow Cabral to move in the opposite direction.

"This is the best solution for all parties," he added. "Jerson did not raise any objections and he ended up on the bench more often than he was on the field. Cabral and Verhoek were both ready for a new chapter in their careers."
