Owen denies reports linking him with a move to Everton
The free agent, who was recently released by the Red Devils, has been quick to play down reports connecting him with a move to the club he supported as a boy
Former Manchester United and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has denied any reports linking him with a move to Everton, stating they are "just rumours".The 32-year-old is a free agent since leaving Old Trafford at the end of last season after three injury-ravaged seasons, with speculation that the forward could be set to join the Toffees.
"Just rumours," Owen stated on Twitter when asked about reports linking him with the Merseyside club.
The veteran striker, who has also had a spell in England's top flight with Newcastle, has also been linked with a move to Stoke over the summer, although there is yet to be any agreement between the two parties.
Potters boss Tony Pulis has recently spoken of his admiration for the former Real Madrid player, and has not ruled out a move for the striker who has scored over 150 goals in the Premier League.
"Michael hasn't gone anywhere and it's still a possibility," Pulis told reporters.
"There's still stuff happening and going on. Whether we can do a deal or not is another matter.
"I've always said he's a good player and someone I think people in the club would like to have around.
"He's a great professional as well and Crouchy [Peter Crouch] has shown what great professionals can do for the football club."
