Anita has not requested a transfer away from Ajax, claims agent
The 23-year-old's agent believes a switch to Newcastle will happen sooner rather than later but insists his client will not force the club's hand
The agent of Vurnon Anita has revealed that the Ajax midfielder has not submitted a transfer request.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Newcastle and the Premier League club have reportedly had a bid already rejected by the Eredivisie champions.
The Netherlands international has admitted that he would be open to a move to the Tyneside outfit and speculation increased as reports suggested the player had recently handed a transfer request to Ajax director of football Marc Overmars.
However, Anita’s agent Harry Lulofs has dismissed those reports, but admits that he is hopeful of meeting with Overmars in the near future to arrange a move away from the Amsterdam ArenA.
"We have spoken with Frank de Boer and want to have a meeting with Overmars, as he has control over it," Lulofs told Ajax Life.
"But there was no meeting yesterday. Hopefully it is just a matter of weeks."
Anita’s contract with Ajax expires in 2014.
