The pacey midfielder will become the 13th Argentine in the Sicilian team, as he prepares to undergo a medical and complete his move from Racing Club
Hoy claims that the 23-year-old will leave Argentina on Tuesday to join up with his new team, who finished 11th in the 2011-12 Serie A campaign. Castro will undergo a medical this week at the club, and is expected to complete a €2.9 million transfer.
Former club Gimnasia will be the biggest beneficiaries of the deal, pocketing half the transfer fee as a result of the 50 per cent stake they still hold in the La Plata native, who came up through the Lobo's youth ranks.
Racing, meanwhile, can expect around €700,000 as they relinquish the 25% share of the player they purchased 12 months ago.
Lucas was a regular in the Racing team that finished second in the 2011 Apertura under Diego Simeone, who brought him to the Avellaneda institution.
Castro will become the 13th Argentine currently contracted to Catania, joining compatriots such as Mariano Andujar, Alejandro Gomez and Gonzalo Bergessio in Sicily.
