Muniesa open to Ajax move, claims Overmars

The Eredivisie champions want to sign the Barcelona starlet on a one-year loan deal, and Marc Overmars has revealed the centre-back is keen to make the move to Amsterdam

The Eredivisie champions are looking to strengthen their defence following the departure of Jan Vertonghen to Tottenham Hotspur, and they have earmarked the 20-year-old Spaniard as the perfect addition.
Muniesa is currently in talks with Barcelona over a contract extension, and Overmars is hopeful that he will soon complete his move to the Godenzonen.
"Barcelona will meet with Muniesa on Tuesday to discuss a contract extension. As soon as that has been taken care of, a move to Ajax is an option," Overmars told De Telegraaf.
"He is open to a transfer. We want to sign him on a one-year loan deal. I'm awaiting a phone call from Barcelona now."
Muniesa's current deal with Barcelona is due to expire in the summer of 2013.
