The Ivorian international was reported to have arrived in the northern French city on Friday with brother and advisor Bonaventure ahead of his medical on Saturday afternoon as Les Dogues appear to have won the race to sign a player who was being chased by 12 leading European clubs, as revealed by Goal.com.
The 26-year-old is believed to be negotiating sporting and financial terms and a signing-on bonus with Lille, and will put pen to paper once he is given the green light by the former French champions' medical team.
Kalou spent six years at Stamford Bridge, scoring 60 times in 244 competitive appearances for the club, but found playing chances at a premium last season, turning out only 12 times in the Premier League before being released by the Champions League winners last month.
Kalou could be Lille's fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Marvin Martin, Steeve Elana and Viktor Klonaridis at the Grande Stade Lille Metropole.
