The Belgian defender who is rumored to be a transfer target for a host of sides has dismissed speculation that he will be leaving the Amsterdam club this summer
Impressive performances at the heart of the Amsterdammers' back line alongside compatriot Jan Verthongen are rumoured to have attracted interest from Premier League outfit Newcastle United. However, the 23 year old insists his immediate future lies in Amsterdam.
"I will stay at Ajax, no matter what," Alderweireld told AD5. "Don't listen to all the rumours you hear."
The Belgian centre back, who joined the side's youth academy from Germinal Beerschot in 2004, eventually signed a professional contract with the club in 2007.
He has since gone on to make 79 appearances for the club, helping them to successive Eredivisie titles in the past two seasons.
He also played a part in the club's Europa League campaign last season, scoring the winning goal as Ajax beat Manchester United 2-1 at Old Trafford, but were knocked out 3-2 on aggregate.
