The Latvia international has been in prolific form in the Ekstraklasa this season and the Bundesliga title holders are said to be close to landing his signature
With Lucas Barrios' long-term future still in question, the Bundesliga leaders are preparing to sign a replacement and Rudnevs is said to be among the candidates.
Polish media have claimed advanced negotiations between the 24-year-old and Dortmund and Revier Sport has also asserted interest in the player, who last year netted four goals in two Europa League games against Juventus, including a hat-trick in his first encounter with the Italian giants.
A Latvia international, Rudnevs has scored 18 goals in 17 Ekstraklasa games for Poznan, who have a history of dealing with Dortmund, having sent Robert Lewandowski to the Ruhr area in 2010.
Rudnevs has a contract that runs to 2014, but could leave for a fee in the region of €3.3 million.
Dortmund have already confirmed the summer signing of 19-year-old Mainz striker Erik Durm, but squad space could soon be available should Barrios be sold in the close season.
The Paraguay international has pledged to fight for his role in the team for the duration of the current season, but with his role in the starting XI being blocked by Lewandowski, he may seek a move elsewhere, leaving room for Rudnevs.
