Ajax striker Mounir El Hamdaoui is on the verge of signing for Fiorentina and has flown to Italy to undertake a medical, according to Sky Sport 24.

The Morocco international, who has an excellent goalscoring record for first AZ and now the current Eredivisie champions, won the Dutch Footballer of the Year award in 2008-09.

The Italian publication states that Delio Rossi's men are eager to bolster their attacking options since the departure of Alberto Gilardino to Genoa and, despite the addition of Amauri at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, El Hamdaoui is set to be recruited.
