Manchester City have launched a bid for Israeli side MS Ashdod’s starlet Nir Biton, with a move set to take place on loan initially.
Biton has spent the past week at City’s Carrington training headquarters and is said to have made a positive impression on the Premier League leaders.
Ashdod have confirmed City’s interest, but club owner Jacky Ben Zaken says any permanent move for the midfielder won’t be made until the summer.
He told The Jewish Chronicle: "They want to take him on loan immediately and want an option to buy him in the future."
The 20-year-old midfielder is highly-rated in his homeland and already boasts two full international caps for Israel.
Should the deal go ahead as planned, Biton will be available for City’s Premier League clash with Everton at Goodison Park on Tuesday.
