Bolton are set to make a £4 million bid for out-of-favour Tottenham midfielder Giovani dos Santos, according to the Mirror.

Owen Coyle has £7m to invest from Gary Cahill’s imminent transfer to Chelsea and, in addition to American defender Tim Ream, has identified a winger as a top priority as he looks to preserve the club’s top flight status.

Coyle is believed to be a long-time admirer of Dos Santos, who arrived at White Hart Lane from Barcelona in 2008 but has failed to break into the starting line-up.

Bolton have also been strongly linked with a move for Blackburn winger Junior Hoilett, but Spurs boss Harry Redknapp’s willingness to sell Dos Santos at a fairly reasonable price means the Mexican is the likelier target.
