Barcelona B striker Jonathan Soriano has confirmed that he is locked in talks with Benfica with a view to a summer transfer.
Soriano's contract with Barca runs out at the end of the season, and neither the player nor the club have shown signs of wanting an extension.
Benfica have long been credited with an interest in Soriano, but the 26-year-old's knee injury prevented the Portuguese club from signing him last summer.
The Spanish frontman has revealed that he is in negotiations with Benfica and conceded that he is looking forward to reuniting with Nolito, who signed for the Portuguese giants at the end of the last season after finding playing opportunities very hard to come by at Camp Nou.
"I confirm there are advanced talks, but I cannot officially say yet that I will be a player of Benfica," he told Maisfutebol.
"We have to wait. There is nothing signed yet and I am still under a contract with Barca.
"The thought of playing with Nolito again excites me. I want to rebuild the great partnership that we had in Spain.
"We understand each other very well. He understands my football, my moves on the field."
Soriano joined Barcelona in 2009 but he has rarely featured for the Catalan club's first team, despite his rich vein of form in front of goal for their B squad.
