Lazio have confirmed the signing of Emiliano Alfaro from Liverpool de Montevideo for a reported fee of €3.2 million, through their official website.

The Biancocelesti had faced stiff competition from Serie A rivals Genoa for the player’s signature, yet the club announced on its official website on Thursday afternoon that the deal had been completed for the Uruguayan international.

Although the exact details of the transfer were not disclosed, it is believed that Alfaro, who has an Italian passport, has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Lazio.

There was no clarification on whether the striker is to be immediately loaned out to another Italian side in order to secure him more game time, as has been rumoured.

Alfaro, who has been capped once by his country, scored 12 goals in 25 games in what was his second stint with Liverpool de Montevideo.
