Atletico Madrid's Diego Godin: If there is interest from Chelsea, I will study it
The former Villarreal player says he is happy at the Vicente Calderon, but claims he would be open to a Premier League switch in the future if the Blues submitted an offer
EXCLUSIVEBy Damian Tiscornia
Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin says he would listen to offers from English club Chelsea, who have been heavily linked with a move for the player.
The Blues were reported to have made a bid for the centre-back in January, but were unsuccessful in their attempts to land the Uruguayan.
However, the former Villarreal man has given the Londoners hope by confirming he would be open to a Premier League switch.
"If there is interest from Chelsea, I will study it," the defender told Goal.com Spain in an exclusive interview.
"At the moment, there is nothing. For now I am at Atletico Madrid and I am not thinking of anything else. There is nothing official."
And Godin remained respectful to his current employers when quizzed on whether he would be interested in a move to England.
"I owe a lot to Atletico and I cannot say that I would like to play for another team. I have great respect [for Atletico], a contract and the team have given me everything," he added.
The 25-year-old defender joined Atletico in the summer of 2010 for €8 million, signing a five-year deal.
