Following Goal.com’s revelation that the Chile international’s representative will be in Italy this week, the midfielder has acknowledged the transfer negotiationsBayer Leverkusen midfielder Arturo Vidal has confirmed that his agent is in discussion with Juventus over a possible transfer this summer.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Italian giants in recent days following his excellent performances in the 2010-11 Bundesliga campaign.
Vidal, who had earlier admitted his interest in playing for the Turin club, has now stated that his representative Fernando Felicevich is negotiating with Juve.
“My agent is talking to Juventus, a club that I love,” the former Colo-Colo star is quoted as saying by Goal.com Italy. “I will soon hear news from [my agent] Felicevich and understand the proposal offered to me by Juventus. Do I feel like a Juventus player already? Let’s just say that my agent is working to make this happen.”
Vidal continued: “[This transfer] is like the one to Leverkusen, as they eventually found a solution with Colo-Colo. Next year I will be able to freely move to another team. Let’s see what happens in the next few hours, I am waiting for good news.”
The confirmation from Vidal comes just a day after Goal.com Italy exclusively revealed that the player’s agent would arrive in the peninsula this week to conduct negotiations, and Bayer also admitted that they are in talks with Juventus over the player's transfer.
"I can affirm that we are talking with Juventus about Vidal," stated managing director Wolfgang Holzhauser. "It's now seemingly certain he will not be playing in Germany next season."
Bayern Munich are also interested in the Chile international, but Bayer’s stance that they will not sell him to a fellow German club appears to have opened the door to the former Italian champions. Vidal’s current contract with Bayer expires in 2012 and he has rejected the notion of an extension.
