Espanyol’s Carlos Kameni on verge of Roma switch

Espanyol director claims negotiations are set to continue as both clubs iron out final details regarding the transfer with developments expected within '24 to 48 hours'
Espanyol director of sport Ramon Planes expects goalkeeper Carlos Kameni to complete a transfer to Italian club Roma within the next two days.

Planes has now confirmed talks are at an advanced stage, and while the move has yet to be sealed officially, the Spanish club's director expects a deal to happen soon.

"The talks are not closed, but there should be developments on this [Kameni's move] within 24 to 48 hours.

"We are negotiating, and sometimes in football things can be closed in minutes. The agreement must satisfy both parties."

Details of the move have not been disclosed, but El Mundo Deportivo claims a transfer fee of €1.7 million will be paid by Roma, plus variables depending on how the 27-year-old fares in the capital city.

The Cameroon goalkeeper is expected to sign a four-year deal. Roma were eager to land Maarten Stekelenburg from Ajax, but that move appears to have gone cold.
