Benfica defender Fabio Coentrao is expected to join the club's pre-season training camp after sporting director Rui Costa declared no satisfying offers for the player have arrived.
The Portugal international has been strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, but the Spanish club's reluctance to meet the €30 million release clause stipulated in Coentrao's contract has been a deal blocker.
Rui Costa admitted earlier today that Coentrao has potential suitors, but underlined that the player's valuation has not yet been met.
"Today, Fabio Coentrao is a player of Benfica, he is naturally a player who is wanted after all that he has been doing," Rui Costa told TVI.
"So far, the club have not received the proposal that it is known we want."
Chelsea are reported to have joined the race for the player, following the appointment of Andre Villas-Boas as coach, but contact between the two clubs has yet to take place.
Benfica will fly to Switzerland on Monday for their pre-season training camp, and with Coentrao's situation hitting a brick wall, it is reported that he will join the squad until his transfer is completed.
