Tottenham midfielder Sandro believes Barcelona target, Leandro Damiao is built for English football despite the Catalan giants showing an interest in the striker.
Goal.com revealed on Wednesday that the North London club are set to battle it out with Barcelona for the Internacional player's signature.
The striker, who has scored 16 goals in the Gaucho state championship is valued at around €15 million with both sides believed to be willing to meet the fee.
Juventus, Benfica and Roma have also been linked with a summer switch for Damiao but Sandro, a former team-mate of the player believes a move to the Premier League would be ideal.
"He is a very strong guy, he is the perfect size for English football, he can do very well here," the Spurs midfielder told Brazilian reporters.
However, Sandro is fully aware that Spurs face a tough task in persuading the player to join the club with interest high.
"Not only do Spurs want him, we read that other sides are also interested in Leandro Damiao. Damiao is a guy who is globally known. He's got quality," he added.
Sandro has also claimed that he has held a conversation with directors at the English club in which he recommended signing his compatriot.
"The directors always talks to me about Brazilian players. They asked me about Leandro Damiao and I told them he's a fantastic guy of high quality. Hopefully we will knock on the door of Inter [Internacional] very soon," he concluded.
Sandro has been in fine form for Tottenham in his debut season, making 19 Premier League appearances.
