Lyon’s Michel Bastos: Lack of Champions League football will not affect my decision to join Juventus

Brazilian star confirms his wish to sign for the Italian giants for next season but that he is open to a move to Spain as well

Lyon wing-back Michel Bastos has reiterated his desire to move to Juventus this summer.

The Brazil international has been linked with a switch to the former Italian and European champions and Lyon themselves are reportedly open to discussions.

Bastos has now further stated his wish to play for Juventus despite the fact that the Turin giants will not feature in the Champions League next season.

"I have always tried to improve my game and for that reason the interest from Juventus is very flattering," said the 27-year-old, according to Sky Sports. "I think for my family the time has arrived for a change and for new things to be experienced.

"But I am aware that I still have two years remaining on my contract at Lyon and I will only move if the deal is good for me and the club.

"Would a lack of Champions League football be an issue? We are still talking about Juve here and I still think the time is right for a change.”

The Brazil international, though, remains open to a move to the Primera Division in Spain but has ruled out playing for a club in the Premier League or the Bundesliga.

"I couldn't imagine myself playing for another club in France so my dream is to go to Italy or Spain,” said Bastos. "England and Germany don't interest me at the moment."

Bastos joined Lyon from Lille in 2009 and has established himself as one of the key members of the team.
