Midfielder Mbark Boussoufa has joined Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala from Belgian giants Anderlecht on a three-year contract, it's been revealed.
The transfer fee has not been confirmed but media reports suggest that Anzhi paid in the region of €11 million for the 26-year-old.
Anderlecht announced the transfer on Thursday evening on their official website and stated, "Mbark Boussoufa and Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht reached an agreement with Anzhi Makhachkala today.
"The player will play the next three seasons for the club from the Russian Republic of Dagestan. He departs with immediate effect to Dagestan."
Boussoufa's contract with the Purple & White was slated to expire in 2012 and he himself had expressed his desire to leave.
The Morocco international was also linked with a move to Russian club Terek Grozny but he eventually chose to join Anzhi, who have recently signed Roberto Carlos and Diego Tardelli.
