Villarreal have confirmed through their official website that striker Giuseppe Rossi has signed a contract extension with the club until the summer of 2016.
The Italian has been in blistering form for the Yellow Submarines this season, netting 19 goals in all competitions, and has forged a prolific relationship with colleague Nilmar.
Speculation continued to surround the future of the former Manchester United talent, with Tottenham and Juventus among the sides thought to be trailing the 23-year-old, who moved to La Liga from Old Trafford in the summer of 2007 for a fee in the region of €9 million.
However, Rossi has now committed his future to El Madrigal, and will concentrate on scoring the goals in the second half of the season that will help Villarreal make a return to Champions League football.
The agreement will be made official after tomorrow’s training session, where Rossi will be accompanied by the club’s board in the press room to discuss the details of the contract.
