The left-sided Dutchman arrives at San Siro...
Contract: Jun 2014
Versatile winger-cum-defender Urby Emanuelson has signed a three-and-a-half year contract with AC Milan, bringing to an end his six-year career at hometown club Ajax.
The 24-year-old has long since been linked with a move to San Siro after making almost 200 appearances for the Amsterdam club in a variety of left-sided positions.
No fee has been officially publicised for the transfer but it is thought that Emanuelson changed hands for a modest sum, given that his Ajax contract was to expire in six months' time.
Emanuelson began his career as a left-back but gradually found himself deployed further and further up the pitch, leading many to think that he will play on the left side of midfield or even attack for the Rossoneri.
One arena that won't see his talents anymore this season is the Champions League. Having played six matches for Ajax in the CL already he is ineligible to compete for Milan. Emanuelson actually played two games against the Rossoneri, earning Goal.com International ratings of 6.5 in both encounters (Ajax 1-1 Milan ratings, Milan 0-2 Ajax ratings), in which he played primarily defensive roles.
Emanuelson has won just 13 Dutch caps in four years of international service, missing out on both Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
