thumbnail Hello,

Manchester United emerge as contenders to land Real Madrid playmaker Kaka on loan deal.

Manchester United have edged ahead of Inter in the race to land Brazilian superstar Kaka from Real Madrid, reports from the English media suggest.

The Daily Star comments that Sir Alex Ferguson wants the 28-year-old on loan until the end of the current campaign, which could potentially lead to a €55 million transfer during the summer.

Inter had previously been thought to be front runners to secure a short-term deal for the playmaker, who enjoyed a hugely successful spell with city rivals Milan before moving to Spain in 2009.

Despite insistence from Los Blancos coach Jose Mourinho that Kaka will be an important player for him in the second half of the season as he recovers from knee surgery, rumours continue to circle that the player will be farmed out to gain match sharpness elsewhere.

Chelsea and Manchester City have also been linked with a move for the 2007 Ballon d’Or winner, who made 32 appearances for the capital giants last season.
