Valencia winger Vicente Rodriguez has remained tight-lipped on rumours of a possible move to Atletico Madrid at the end of the season, but added that he is proud of being associated with the capital city club.
The midfielder’s contract at the Mestalla expires in June, and he is free to discuss terms with other interested parties starting next month, with a new deal with los Che not yet forthcoming.
Speaking to AS, the 29-year-old remarked on his future, “I am proud that a club of the importance of Atletico Madrid is interested in me, but I am still under contract with Valencia until June.
“I do not know what will happen, but I am very calm and eager to play. I have not spoken with [Atletico Madrid coach] Quique Sanchez Flores, or anyone from Atletico, or Valencia, regarding my future.”
Vicente is currently in his eleventh season with the club, and previously worked under Flores when the current Colchoneros boss was in charge at the Mestalla from 2005 until 2007.
