But "there isn't a player this club can't afford," he says

Manchester City coach David Platt has dismissed talk of a move for Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta, but maintained that the club do have the financial means to sign the player if they were interested.

The Eastlands outfit have spent heavily during recent transfer windows, as they attempt to build a squad capable of winning both domestic and European honours.

Recent reports had seen Fifa Ballon d'Or nominee Iniesta being linked with a move to the blue half of Manchester, but Platt believes that such rumours are unfounded.

"There isn't a player this club can't afford, although I don't really think that Iniesta is on our shopping list," he said in the News of the World.

There have also been several reports of dressing room unrest at Eastlands this term, with large pay packets and inflated egos being touted as the cause of the problems.

Platt confirmed that there had been some issues, but nothing that would be seen as out of the ordinary at any other club.

"There is a dressing room full of people who want to win things, and that spills on to the training pitch," he said.

"There is no doubt about it, things have happened inside the club. But it's nothing I haven't seen before and at times, believe me, I have seen a lot worse.

"But we did go through a period when things were blown up out of all proportion, and that was a little bit annoying.

"Look at the row between Carlos [Tevez] and Roberto [Mancini] at half-time against Newcastle. It wasn't as intense as everybody made out. But it happened and you have to live with it.

"Yaya Toure and James Milner had a spat on the pitch in one game and that's all it was, a tactical disagreement which finished there and then."

City have recently been rocked by the news that skipper Tevez has handed in a written transfer request, as he seeks to move away from the club.

With the Eastlands outfit rejecting the player's plea for a transfer, there were suggestions that the 26-year-old could be axed from the first-team. However, Platt insists that the player will still be selected if he is available.

"There is no point being stupid about it. If Carlos Tevez is available, he is going to be in the staring XI," he said.
