Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is already preparing a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger in the summer of 2011, according to reports from Germany.

Publication Bild comments that the Portuguese coach wanted to bring the German World Cup star to La Liga in the previous transfer window, but instead swooped for his national team-mates Mesut Oezil and Sami Khedira.

However, after Los Blancos’ summer friendly with the Bundesliga champions, Mourinho took time to praise the powerful-running midfielder, commenting: “[Bastian] Schweinsteiger is incredible. I wanted to sign him this summer, but I could not. However, next year he will be mine.”

The player himself has hinted at a possible departure to the Spanish giants, but Bayern were not interested in negotiations, insisting that the 26-year-old was not available.

Schweinsteiger is contracted to the Allianz Arena until June 2012, meaning his club will be forced to offer a new contract or orchestrate a transfer to avoid one of their prized assets leaving for free.

Real Madrid purchased Oezil from Werder Bremen under similar circumstances, with the playmaker’s deal at Werder having been due to expire next year.
