Former Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara has said the club should have offered Diego a second chance to redeem himself following last season's poor showing.
Ferrara's advice has come a touch late for Juventus who sold the Brazilian to Wolfsburg during the summer transfer window.
The former coach feels Diego deserved another chance and he would have been given one if he was still at the helm, despite the player facing stern criticism following his first year in Turin.
"For me Diego deserved another chance," Ferrara told Sky Sport Italia.
"There is also a discourse relating to technical and economical needs and I guess there was a gap with Luigi Del Neri's ideas. But I would have given him another chance."
Nevertheless, Ferrara praised Juventus for their ample transfer market which has, to some, offered the club a chance to fight for honours.
"A revolution was in the air following such a negative season. Time is needed though as players left the club, players who had made history. Now some younger players are there. I think they have the right mix," he concluded.
