Valencia Set For January Loan Swoop For Manchester City Forward Roque Santa Cruz - Report
Valencia may be interested in a loan deal for Manchester City's Roque Santa Cruz in the January window.
By Paul Macdonald
Valencia will offer Manchester City striker Roque Santa Cruz a loan deal to the end of the season when the January transfer window opens, according to reports on the continent.
Goal.com Spain believes that the Paraguayan forward will be considered as an alternative by Los Che coach Unai Emery should his current strike pairing of Roberto Soldado and Aritz Aduriz fail to deliver.
The former Bayern Munich striker had looked certain to leave Eastlands in the summer window, with Serie A side Lazio leading the chase for his signature, and at one stage the deal appeared a formality.
However, Santa Cruz remained in Manchester, but with such a glittering array of attacking talent at Roberto Mancini’s disposal, it seems unlikely that the forward will be given many first-team opportunities.
Blackburn Rovers were the team who initially brought Santa Cruz to England in a £3.5 million deal in 2007, and after Mark Hughes became Manchester City boss he swooped for the frontman, but his time at the club has been marred by a series of injuries.
