Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi has said he would embrace a Serie A return, but made it clear he is in no rush to return.
"I don't know why anyone from Italy hasn't called, maybe it's because I am ugly," he joked, according to Tuttosport.
"I'm not tired of Spain, I am fine, but I'd like to someday return to my country, it's my dream. I waited until the last minute for a call from an Italian club, but there was nothing concrete, just rumours. This also applies to Inter.
"Did I wait for a call from [Roma coach Claudio] Ranieri, who I worked with before? I waited for a particular club but unfortunately nothing arrived."
Rossi, who has recently been linked with Tottenham, feels drawn to the peninsula amid reports claiming Fiorentina were interested in landing him.
"Fiorentina are a great club with top players and a good coach, it's a shame they are not involved in Europe this year because they all deserved it," he told Firenzeviola.it.
"Could it be my future? I am tied to Villarreal until 2013, but I did say I would like to return to Italy."
He also spoke about the Italian national team under new coach Cesare Prandelli and his exclusion from the World Cup 2010 by former boss Marcello Lippi.
"[Luca] Cigarini was also called. The young players are maturing, there is trust from Prandelli and my team-mates," he continued.
"Did Lippi break a promise to me? In football there are no promises."
