Various sources in Spain suggest that the Cameroon international was the subject of a €2 million bid, and rather than dismiss the offer, the Blanc i Blau appear willing to negotiate a fee that is suitable to them.
The 26-year-old has been a permanent fixture for the Barcelona club since his arrival in 2004, and was the subject of speculation last season when his contract expired, but instead chose to renew his deal to remain at the club.
However, although Galatasaray’s first bid was rejected, talks between the two parties have intensified as the deadline draws ever closer, with both sides looking to reach an agreement before the end of the transfer window at midnight tonight.
Kameni missed Espanyol’s first league match of the season through injury, which resulted in a 3-1 victory, with Argentine Cristian Alvarez taking his place in goal, and it is thought that coach Mauricio Pochettino’s belief in the 24-year-old could lead to an agreement being reached for Kameni.
