Birmingham City Set Their Sights On Barcelona Outcast Aliaksandr Hleb

Birmingham City have approached Barcelona with a €4.8 million offer for Aliaksandr Hleb, according to reports.

The midfielder is being forced out of the Nou Camp and, having turned down a move to Benfica, the Daily Mail reports he prefers a switch to a Premier League club.

After failing to agree on terms with Wigan Athletic winger Charles N’Zogbia, City manager Alex McLeish has made Hleb his target, although wage demands could prove a stumbling block in any potential deal.

McLeish has inquired about a loan deal for Arsenal's Armand Traore, but City face competition from Serie A side Juventus for the full-back's signature.

Meanwhile, the Blues are confident of wrapping up a €500,000 deal for Spartak Moscow defender Martin Jiranek.
