Goal.com UK can reveal that the transfer fee is €21m with an additional win bonuses of around €2-3m.
The Argentine midfielder has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months about his future, with Inter as well as Barca linked with a move.
His reported refusal to play for the Reds against Manchester City on Monday evening has led to criticism from many quarters and reportedly annoyed several team-mates.
But it looks as though the way has now been cleared for the midfielder to leave Anfield.
"Liverpool Football Club have agreed terms for the transfer of Javier Mascherano to FC Barcelona," the statement on the Reds' official website reads.
"The Spanish club have now been given permission to speak to the Argentina midfielder."
Barca too confirmed the agreement on their official website and stated: "FC Barcelona and Liverpool CF have reached an agreement for the transfer of Javier Mascherano for the next four seasons.
"The deal depends on the utility star passing a medical at Barça and the signing of his contract. Mascherano will arrive in Barcelona on this weekend."
