Sporting Braga Negotiating With Valencia Over Huga Viana Transfer - Report
The Champions League qualifiers want to bring the Portuguese home...
By Paul Macdonald
Spanish publication Marca comments on various Portuguese sources claiming that talks are advanced in bringing the Viana back to the club where he spent a season on loan during 2009/10 as the club finished in second position in Liga Sagres.
Braga sensationally dumped Sevilla out of the Champions League play-off this week, and are looking to use the extra revenue they have received to secure Viana, who was once valued at €12m when Newcastle United purchased him in 2002.
Coach Domingos Paciencia is confident of concluding a deal with the Primera Division side, but details of the fee offered to Valencia remains unknown.
Viana’s career has stalled at Los Che after joining in 2005, and has also spent time on loan at Osasuna, but the 27-year old is likely to be interested in a return to Braga, where he made 28 appearances last season.
Viana began his career at Sporting Lisbon, where other wing talents such as Luis Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo flourished early in their career.
