Hugo Almeida has expressed his desire to remain at Werder Bremen, according to Italian press, but Lazio remain on the trail of the former Porto forward.

La Republicca
has suggested that the Portugese player is now having second thoughts about his future after Werder Bremen went a step closer to securing Champions League football with a 3-1 victory over Italians Sampdoria in last night's play-off first leg.

Laziosiamono reports that today could be the day his exit is decided. Lazio president Claudio Lotito last night attended the match after speculation that the Aquilotti had been interested in the Werder forward. A meeting is reportedly set to be held between officials.

Almeida's contract expires at the end of this coming season
