Mario Balotelli's move to Manchester City from Inter seems to have edged a significant step closer today, with Sky Sports News reporting that the striker has arrived in England. The 20-year-old forward boarded a plane to Manchester earlier on Friday to undergo a medical with City.
The player's agent had revealed on Thursday evening that a deal betwen the Serie A giants and the rich men of the Premier League was close.
Balotelli scored goals for Inter but has never enjoyed a close relationship with the club's fans. He played 73 games for the Milanese outfit, netting 22 times and managing 12 assists.
He has 16 caps for Italy Under-21s, netting six times, and was called up to the senior Azzurri side for the first time this week.
Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Inter have reached a deal worth approximately €28 million, with the player set to sign a five-year contract.
The report claims that the deal will net the player something in the region of €3.5m a year in wages.
City boss Roberto Mancini is a known admirer of Balotelli, and has spoken out in praise of the striker in recent days.
UPDATE: According to Sky Sport 24, Balotelli has completed his medical at Manchester City and is now on his way to the club offices to sign his contract.
Sky Italia are now saying that Balotelli will be presented as a Citizen on Monday.
