Benfica Deny Ramires Pleaded With Club For Chelsea Move
Portuguese outfit issues response to Blues quotes...
By Danielle Joynson
Quotes published on Thursday had claimed that the Brazilian had pleaded with his club to let him leave the Estadio da Luz in order to complete a "dream move" to Stamford Bridge.
Benfica have, however, released a statement to deny that the player had talked about a move the Stamford Bridge.
The statement read: "Sport Lisboa e Benfica have dismissed that our player Ramires issued any statements to the English media. Therefore, any quotes from the player are deemed as inaccurate and untrue."
Despite the denial, speculation continues to mount that Ramires, who represented Brazil at the 2010 World Cup, is looking for a way out of Benfica, with the Premier League seemingly his preferred choice of destination.
