Udinese Chase Saint-Etiene Defender Yohan Benalouane - Report
Italians are quick to search for Lukovic cover....
By Andrew McLean
Udinese are interested in the acquisition of Saint-Etienne defender Yohan Benalouane, according to BBC Sport. The Serie A club yesterday confirmed the sale of Serbian Aleksandar Lukovic to Zenit St. Petersburg and are already looking at the 23-year-old Frenchman to re-shape their backline.
The defender broke into the first team in Ligue 1 in 2007 and as of last season has been ever present, making 64 league appearances in total for Saint-Etienne. Newcastle United have also been eager to sign the centre-back, who has one year left on his contract, but he has already told his club he does not intend to re-sign. With Newcastle having signed experienced centre-back Sol Campbell this week, it could leave the door open for Udinese to snap up the wantaway youngster.
In the meantime the Bianconeri are also continuing their pursuit of Ternana attacker Luis Jimenez. The Chilean has been on loan for the majority of the last four years with Lazio, Inter, West Ham and Parma.
