Inter Have €160 Million To Spend On Transfers - Report
Maicon and Balotelli sales plus other income have given Inter a treasure chest of transfer cash...
By Salvatore Landolina
Inter will have a monumental budget to spend on transfers this summer that could total €160million. And they will use it to bag a number of stars, including Javier Mascherano of Liverpool, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Mario Balotelli's move to Manchester City and Maicon's transfer to Real Madrid are expected to generate around €60m, and add to that the €72m income from last season's victorious Champions League campaign, €12m from taking part in the European Super Cup and World Club Cup, €10m from Real Madrid following their compensation payment to Inter for Jose Mourinho and €2.5m from Rene Khrin's exit, plus undisclosed bonuses relating to the Maicon and Balotelli deals and Inter have a whopping transfer budget that is close to €160m.
Some of the equity is likely to be spent on player wages, but Massimo Moratti is hopeful of signing top-class players, including Mascherano.
Il Corriere dello Sport claims the Argentine is eager to team up with Rafael Benitez, leaving Inter with scope to make a move.
He is valued at around €30m, but Moratti is confident of getting a discount on that figure as he hopes to insert Sulley Muntari as part of the deal. Kuyt is also on Inter's radar.
