Inter Milan have reportedly refused Real Madrid's "ultimatum" for Brazilian full-back Maicon as reported by Goal.com yesterday.
Marca have suggested that Real will walk away from the deal after a €22 million "take it or leave it" offer laid down to the Nerazzurri was pushed back.
Maicon's agent Antonio Caliendo reacted with distaste to the transfer antics of Real.
"If things stay like this then he will remain at Inter. Maicon has not spoken with Benitez," said Caliendo.
"I have tried to keep Maicon away from all the transfer talk because he deserved three weeks to himself to switch off from all the market dramas."
Real Madrid and Mourinho have also grown tired and frustrated with the pursuit of the 'Special One''s former right back, as Inter have replied with their own ultimatum: "The €28 million does not go down, you can take it or leave it; it is irrevocable."
Real are supposedly no longer interested in the Selecao player and will turn their heads quickly to a number of other targets. Los Blancos have been keeping tabs on Thiago Silva, David Luiz, Nemanja Vidic and Bruno Alves as they look to switch their attention to centre-backs with Sergio Ramos asked to move to the right-back role in Maicon's absence, and if Mou really is over Maicon, it surely will not be long until another bidding war ensues.
