Real Madrid have not given up on their chase for Maicon following Inter's €30 million ultimatum as Sportmediaset.it reports they will use Fernando Gago as part of their offer.
Inter and Real have been unable to find an agreement over the transfer fee. Real Madrid's €24m offer has not been enough to find a breakthrough.
The Nerazzurri reportedly told Real Madrid they had to pay €30m or forget about Maicon.
But, rather than give up, the Spanish giants have gone back to the drawing board and are prepared to offer Gago.
The defensive midfielder is admired by Rafael Benitez and he can be seen as an alternative to Javier Mascherano. Reports from Spain suggest Benitez tried to sign Gago for Liverpool before he joined Real in 2007.
Real are now trying to offer cash plus Gago in return for the full back. But Inter are only keen on a full cash deal.
