Manchester City and Aston Villa are keeping a close eye on the situation of Barcelona forward Aliaksandr Hleb, with a view to making a move for him, according to a report from The Daily Mirror.

The Belarussian has claimed that he is keen to return to England after leaving Arsenal 18 months ago.

Barcelona are believed to be keen to sell the £8 million-rated player and could strike a loan deal if a permanent move does not prove possible.

Hleb is currently on loan at Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart but insists that there is no chance of him remaining in Germany beyond the summer.

"The chances for me to stay at Stuttgart next season are zero," he said.

"Barcelona will decide my future and I am open to any option. But I have shown at Arsenal that I can play in England and enjoy the Premier League."
