Tottenham Hotspur Interested In Lazio Midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger - Report
Premier League interest in Hitzlsperger...
By Salvatore Landolina
The German midfielder joined Lazio from Stuttgart in January until the end of the season. Lazio paid €450,000 for him and gave him a €1 million wage deal for the six months to June.
He has the option to sign an extension with the club, but he has been linked with a return to the Premier League, where he played for Aston Villa between 2000 and 2005.
Tottenham are expected to make their interest known in the 27-year-old, who has not played regularly since November. He has struggled to break into the starting XI as new coach Edy Reja has preferred Stefano Mauri.
Wages may prompt Hitzlsperger to accept a good offer from the Premier League. He was on €2.5m per annum at Stuttgart, but the Italians will not be willing to offer that in order to keep him.
