World Cup 2010: Roma's Julio Baptista Has Brazil Dream
Baptista is confident he will be on the flight...
By Salvatore Landolina
Julio Baptista is looking forward to playing at the World Cup, saying he doesn't fear competition for his place with Brazil.
Ronaldinho's return to form has led to a new debate over whether Baptista will get called up by Carlos Dunga. He has not played regularly with Roma, and was almost transferred to Inter on loan, but the deal collapsed.
Fears aside, he is confident of making the grade.
"I don't think I will have problems. Dunga has called me as back-up to Kaka. If Ronaldinho is called then he will be in a different role to me," he told Globoesporte.com.
"I am tranquil. When I have been called I have always given my contribution. Going to the World Cup is not just down to me as it is Dunga's choice.
"But I will work hard with Roma to convince Dunga because it will be a dream for me."
Baptista also reflected on his failed move to the Nerazzurri.
"Inter wanted me because they needed my characteristics, but they could not find an agreement with Roma," he concluded.
