The director has confirmed the Bianconeri are in talks with the trequartista’s parent club Udinese.Juventus director of sport Alessio Secco has dropped a strong hint that the Serie A giants might sign Italy international midfielder Antonio Candreva before the end of the January transfer window.
Candreva is on loan at Livorno from Udinese for the season and Secco told Sky Sport Italia before Juve’s defeat to Chievo yesterday: “It’s true that we are mulling it over. But we could only sign him with a view to a permanent transfer.
“On the other hand, Udinese are keen on a counter-option and a big team like Juve can’t act on behalf of another Serie A team.”
Candreva has recently broken into the Italy national team and press reports have suggested that Azzurri boss Marcello Lippi has advised the Old Lady to pounce for the 22-year-old.
“It’s not true,” insisted Secco. “At the moment, Juve’s choices are made by the club and by coach Ciro Ferrara.”
Juve lost 1-0 to Chievo yesterday dropping to fifth in the league standings, putting both Ferrara and Secco under intense pressure.
