Report: Juventus Seeking Loan Deal For Genoa Midfielder Giandomenico Mesto
The Grifoni have expressed reservations and have proposed a permanent transfer.
By Vince Masiello
Serie A giants Juventus have made contact with Genoa to sign Italian winger Giandomenico Mesto on a six-month loan deal, according to TuttoJuve.com.
The Turin side are facing an injury crisis in that role as Mauro Camoranesi and Sebastian Giovinco are currently out injured.
Boss Ciro Ferrara has reportedly pinpointed Mesto as a stop-gap measure to alleviate the Old Lady’s problems in their absences.
But the club directors appear reluctant to inject more funds during the January transfer window without first deciding if the Neapolitan tactician will stay in charge beyond the end of the current season.
Ferrara’s job is hanging by a thread after a run of six defeats in eight outings between Serie A and the Champions League despite advancing to the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia in midweek.
Therefore, Juve have proposed Genoa an outright loan deal. The Grifoni’s response has been vague and president Enrico Preziosi is said to have urged the Bianconeri to make a bid for a permanent move.
