French Side Cannes Tempting Ex-Juventus Star Pavel Nedved Out Of Retirement - Report
‘Czech Fury’ could be set for a shock return to football…
French side Cannes have launched an audacious bid to sign former Juventus midfielder Pavel Nedved, according to L’Equipe.
The 37-year-old quit football at the end of last season after refusing the terms of a new deal with the Bianconeri.
Nedved has since been linked with a return to the Turin club in a director role and the Stadio Olimpico crowd repeatedly shouted his name last night as the Old Lady defeated Napoli 3-0 in a Coppa Italia last 16 tie.
But L’Equipe claims Cannes have approached the 2003 Ballon d’Or winner and are hoping to tempt him out of retirement to reverse their fortunes, as the French Riviera side languish in mid-table in the French Third Division.
Cannes have just signed ex-Borussia Dortmund striker Jan Koller, who was Nedved’s team-mate at Sparta Prague and in the Czech national team, and are reportedly set to bring in former Arsenal hitman Sylvain Wiltord.
