Benoit Tremoulinas: I Am Very Happy At Girondins De Bordeaux
The burgeoning defender has indicated his willingness to remain with Laurent Blanc's outfit until the end of the season at least, despite reported interest from Real Madrid and Inter...
Girondins de Bordeaux left-back Benoit Tremoulinas has conceded that all the transfer rumours surrounding him at the present time are very “flattering”, but he doesn't yet see himself leaving the Ligue 1 champions.
Under the stewardship of Laurent Blanc, Tremoulinas has become one of France’s premier left backs, finally being touted for a place in the national side after a terrific 2009. In addition, his name has been linked with clubs of the stature of Real Madrid and Inter, though the 23-year-old is in no hurry to depart the Stade Chaban-Delmas.
“It’s always flattering [to be linked with other clubs] but I’m fine with les Girondins,” he told the press as the champions reconvened after the Christmas break. “The coach is still with Bordeaux, so why leave when you are in a team with very good players headed by two excellent coaches in Laurent Blanc and Jean-Louis Gasset?
“In two seasons we’ve won the league, two domestic cups and two Trophee des Champions. We still hope to win titles this year.”
Bordeaux are indeed in an excellent position to achieve a successful campaign. They currently head Ligue 1 by a nine-point margin over Lille and remain in all three cup competitions, meaning that silverware this term is a strong likelihood rather than simply a possibility.
